Vellanakalude Nadu is a 1988 Malayalam drama film. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film was produced by Manianpilla Raju a close friend of Mohanlal & Priyadarshan

The movie is a political satire based against municipal mafia in the form of Buildings & Public roads.

'Vellanakalude Naadu' was a huge hit and is often considered one of Priyadarshan's best films till date. Scripted by Sreenivasan, the laugh riot is held closely to their hearts by most film lovers in Kerala.

Priyadarshan has announced to re-make this film in Hindi, titled 'Khatta Meetha'.

'Khatta Meetha' would have Akshay Kumar donning Mohanlal's role. Trisha has been cast opposite Akshay in the film. The actress who had long been planning to make a debut in Bollywood, finally has signed up a Priyadarshan film, that she hopes would be an ideal launch vehicle for her.
