Pop Star Michael Jackson dies at 50

Michael Jackson, the once legendary and sometimes reviled pop star, has died after being rushed by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles.

Early reports indicated he was not breathing and that paramedics performed CPR on him in the ambulance.
 
The 911 call came in at 12:21pm Pacific Time (3:21pm ET) at his Holmby Hills home in LA.

His mother went immediately to the hospital to be by his side, and his father, Joe Jackson, told a reporter by phone that "he is not doing well."

One Jackson family member is quoted as saying that Michael is in "really bad shape" and that his brothers were headed to UCLA Medical Center.

About two hours later, sources were confirming that Jackson was dead.
