   Poorna alias Shamna Kasim is a 17-going-on-18 girl who has become the new sensation in Kollywood.
It seems illaya thalapathy Vijay usually a man of few words seem to have compared Poorna with Asin.
Poorna a.k.a Shamna Kasim is originally from Kannur district of Kerala.
Poorna alias Shamna Kasim had done three Malayalam films with the superstar Mohanlal as his foster sister in Ali Bhai, as heroine's friend in Flash, and finally the second heroine who comes in a flashback in College Kumaran. Though she was close to Mohanlal, her film career in Malayalam never took off as all her films bombed. 
If she becomes a hit in Tamil, Poorna alias Shamna Kasim will become the first Malayalee Muslim born and brought up in Kannur, to debut in Tamil cinema.
I Also traced her as a contestant of a Dance reality show.. not sure if its true.
With all this build-ups going about her... I am sure she will replace Asin.

Poorna, whose previous name was Shamna Kasim, had acted opposite Mammootty and Mohanlal in Malayalam films and is the latest heroine migrated from Malayalam to Tamil. She is playing the lead role opposite Bharath in Muniyandi Vilangiyal Mundram Aandu as Tamarai. Being a Malayali by birth, Poorna is very close to Gopika, who is nothing short of a role model for her. They both hail from the same state and in fact, Gopika is senior to Poorna in Tamil.
