My ongoing argument with TATA SKY asking why is ths injustice done to South Indian viewers especially Malayalam and Tamil

Please advice on how I may approach TRAI with my concerns,
 
It looks like now am stuck with TATA Sky, even if I do not want to use them anymore.
 
I was told that these suckers have taken money from me for Dish and the receiver box, whic actually according to their terms and conditions does not even belong to me....
 
Can anyone help..... PLEASE!!!!

Lets talk some sense here.
 
You are doing this injustice to satisfy the subscribers on a "pan India basis" . This sounds more like "This is a punishment for choosing to be with us"
 
What non-sense are we talking here? Why do you think that I will be happy to pay you 400+ rupees to do this idiotic stuff?
Why should I be bothered about you trying to satisfy people on pan-india basis or not?
 
I am south indian who would like to watch more of Malayalam and Tamil channels, So give me one good reason why I must pay for more number of Telugu, Nepali, Bengali, Marati and Kannada channels?
 
An over this you make me more angry by sending me a email saying "We would like to inform you that your e-mail query (service request reference number 1-1565805259) has been responded to."
 
If just responding with a stupid answer like what you did does not mean the case is closed... is it not?

By the time TATA SKY arrives at the actual situation it will be 3 months from now.
 
The idiots dont even bother anything about the viewers and subscribers from South.
 
I wonder if its really a TATA Group, because they have been behaving excatly opposite to what TATA is...
 
I wonder if we can go legal with this... I wasted my money to renew channels of Marati, Telugu, Kannada, Nepalis, and some other languages that I cant even spell right.
 
mmm... i wonder if there is any serious and responsible people at TATA sky who will save this sinking ship.

TWO more Malayalam Channels disappeared from my TV, Indiavision & Amritha TV.
 
I repeated request to add more malayalam channels were all in vain. I only lost more money making those phone calls to you.

I feel bad when Sun Network customer are able to view more Tamil and  Malayalam channels for price lesser that what i have been spending for TATA Sky.

TATA Sky from Bangalore called me now and asked for my subscriber ID.
I got the call from their Bangalore office around 11:55am on my cell phone
They called from a bangalore number +918022163000
 
The conversation was not very lengthy, I would say.
 
The Gentleman who called was trying to convince me saying TATA does not have enough bandwidth to show all channels.  NOT A PROBLEM OF MINE.
 
He also repeated the story of keeping in mind the interest of all the people in India... NOTA PROBLEM OF MINE AGAIN.  He sounded more like... "Sir we are keeping the Nepali, Bengali, Marati, and other Hindi speaking community who watches TV through TATA Sky at the cost of people like you"
 
I still did not get a proper answer from them why I must pay 500+ rupees and be forced with TV channels of no Interest to me...
 
He wanted my subscriber ID and a copy of the email replies I had from some friends working at Various TV channels.... I has asked him to make a written request on the same...
 
My guess is he will never do that... because Tata knows they are at the erring end. What a stupid Idea.
 
For the pun of it.... My guess is TATA Sky is illegally selling dish and box to viewers in NEPAL, Pakistan, Afgnistan & Bangladesh...LOL

If  you were genuine in the thought that you keep the interest of the people who pay subsccription in time and keep you going... you must have sent a MESSAGE on the TV screen about dropping channels, along with the advertisement released in the NATIONAL and Regional newspapers....
 
Shame on you for playing tricks with the people who have been paying their hard earned money who while enjoying your product is also helping you keep your company and employees paid....

Your Technical limitation seems to be the actual reason for withdrawing the already little number of Malayalam Channels on TATA Sky, Why blame it on viewership?
 
Also what was on the mind of the Tata Sky and team when they thought a subscriber like me will be willing to pay rs.500+ everymonth for channels that may be popular but not of my interest?
 
Is this not a violation of the TRAI's very basic idea of DTH where a subscriber must be charged only for channels that he/she is willing to watch... ?
 
Would like you to suggest me what I must do now... I not interested to leave TATA Sky's service, but you are forcing and pushing me out of your customer base... 
May be to your eyes I belong to that Customer lot that is interested only in the channels that has little or NO viewership....

I have been using TataSky DTH. Since it was from Tata, a reputed company, I had gone for this connection. From May 26th they have dropped 2 Malayalam channels Amrita TV and Indiavision. They were not giving news channels like Manorama vision etc even before. When I asked them, they are saying that they are giving ETV Bihar and Nepal TV instead of that. I have opted a South India Jumbo pack and monthly subscription fee is Rs. 350What is the point of giving Nepal TV in south India. I have refered one person about 2 months back and he took this connection unfortunately. They are cursing me now. About 4 of my friends wanted to take new DTH, I have refered one of them DD's DTH and Sun's DTH. They have taken these connection recently and they are happy. I am going with legal proceeding for such cheating by TataSky. If anybody is going to take DTH, please remember not TataSky.

I am not getting Amrita TV, Indiavision etc from today (26-05-07).
 
Your service is already bad and now it is getting worse than before. There is always No signal messages comes in screen and we cant view anything for long time. With other DTH providers, all malayalam channels like Manorama vision, Jeevan TV and other leading malayalam channels are available and their monthly subscription charge is about Rs250 only. I am paying lucrative amount of Rs. 350 per month and getting worse service. I have paid Rs 4500 for installation charge. I have shifted the house with 3 months after the installation. You have charged me another Rs. 600 as shifting charge. In this case, there is no difference between your service and local cable service. They take only Rs. 500 for new connection set up free. Instead of waving off the set up fee to make more competitive, you are charging more than them.
 
 You charge for everything and service is not upto the mark. Now, you have a scheme for new subscribers that you give the installation for Rs. 1500. Where as, you are not giving any scheme for the existing customers who have paid Rs. 4500 as set up fee.
 
I was promised by your people that you would provide more channels in future. But, I am not getting Sony channel which is available with local cable connection too and from today Amrita TV and Indiavision. I have paid money for shifting my connection but my contact address is not being changed in my info in website. Instead of improving your service and channels your service is getting worse day by day. Now, Surya TV DTH is given with a small amount of Rs. 750 (Including shop owners discount). Though I get some introductory offer if I refer somebody, I dont refer anybody because they will curse me when they suffer your service. I have taken 2 other DTH connection(One is surya and they are happy with that) for my frieds who were bought new house recently.
 
I hereby would like to cancel my TataSky Connection due to your bad service and high subscription fee. Please inform me how much I would get back if I am surrendering my connection.

Till such time TATA Sky does not have more than 15 to 20  channels that I and my family wants to watch.. why dont you stop charging and Taxing us for channels that are of  NO interest to me and my family.
 
Why are you making me pay for others?
 
just like you.... every rupee that I make is hard earned.... my income too is not from a tree that grows one thousand rupees notes in my backyard... .

We do believe your anger is justifiable.  But also believe that no response from us will assuage what you feel.

Tata Sky carries the most popular channels on the platform. Please appreciate that although there is unlimited availability of content from various sources the transponder capacity is limited.  Also projected increased costs to consumers prevent us from carrying all the available content.  There are more than 400 channels in India and our transponder capacity does not allow us to carry more than 150 linear channels. We, therefore, have to review the content we carry at some frequency to make sure that we carry the most viewed, and the thus the most popular content across languages across the country. We are the first platform to bring to the countrysuch quality channels such as World Movies, NDTV Imagine, 9X and 9X News, UTV Movies,Neo Sports, BBC Entertainment and C Beebies.

 

In the last review Amrita TV, DD Podhigai and a few other channels came up as content with extremely limited viewer ship and we did what is required under the regulatory guidelines, we published our intention to drop these channels in papers across the country.

 

We do hope to get more satellite capacity in a few months and will try and include more niche content, including some of the channels we do not have capacity for at this moment.

We trust the above clarifies the reason behind the withdrawal of the said channels. Should you have any further clarifications, we would be happy to address the same

Replies received from tatasky officials are unconvincing.  Limitation of bandwith should not pose any difficulty in offering alternate channels in the package for which we have paid for.  For example two other Malayalam channels (say Kiran or Surya) should have been offered in the package when two channels (Amritha & Indiavision) were withdrawn.  This would in no way compensate for arbitrary removal of two channels of interest to the client.  But at least we would have believed that there is no bad intention or commercial interest in their act.

 
Why should you cut down two major channels from the south Indian service pack to ease out  bandwidth to provide an additional channel in the basic package, that too a channel from a country recently turned Maoist?

What a ridiculous statement that advance information was given in tv screen and newspapers!  Will an advance information that someone is about to hurt you, especially while you have absolutely defenseless, help in relieving the pain inflicted by the actual action that followed?  The whole issue is leading to a suspicion that there is a conspiracy behind everything.  Now that the reality shows are becoming popular and everyone involved wants to share a piece of cake from it, there should be hidden motives behind all these shady actions.  (Amrita TV shares the income for the betterment of poor and needy and not to fill up the pockets of vested interests)

 
We feel sad that all this is happening in an organization in the name of a legend in Indian Industry known for his integrity and uprightness.

Is it true that TATA Sky is giving us the wrong information that they do not have enough bandwidth?
 
Sashi a reader at the discussion forum claims, TATA sky is denying south indian channels to viewers like me, as these channels do not want to pay them what TATA Sky wants you to pay?
 
Is the story about viewership count is all eye-wash and reasons to keep extending the TRAI verdict on the inter-operatability of the STBs?
 
Would highly appreciate your true comments on the same...

FYI : I am one among the many customers who had been denied viewing south indian channels. I still pay for TWO set-top box from TATA SKY, out of which one of the BOX is not working but still they take daily rental for both.

 

Would someone comment please confirm if this news from Sashi at www.simplymalayalees.com may be true?

3. My sister in law called in a HASTE asking me to switch to ASIANET plus and that she has a surprise for us...
 
DAMN HELL the bloody TATA SKY, has none of these channels on blessed satellite.
 
I wonder if RATAN TATA is aware of the TATA SKY making money by cheating people like me... I guess he is not...
