A swarm of bees attacked popular South Indian filmstar Meera Jasmine and a couple of other crew members while they were participating in a shooting sequence for a Telugu film Gorintaku at Charla Maisamma Temple in Keshampet village in the district on Wednesday morning. While the actress escaped unhurt, an assistant director Ramakrishna and a couple of production assistants were stung by the bees.

They were taken to a local hospital where they were offered first aid. The shooting resumed after a couple of hours. According to Keshampet sarpanch Sridhar Reddy, scores of people had gathered at the place to have a glimpse of the actress but the production crew tried to dissuade them from going further as a song sequence was being shot.

To watch the proceedings, some of the villagers even climbed the huge banyan tree which had 10 beehives. Even as the scuffle was on, one of the villagers reportedly threw a stone at a beehive resulting in the commotion.

As the bees, which were resting on the honey comb, started attacking the people, the production assistants immediately covered Meera Jasmine with a blanket and took her to her car.

‘Nepali, the name itself suggests that something different is on offer. But everything that is different need not always be interesting. In a way, Nepali has nothing new in terms of its basic plot. It’s the same boy meets girl, love at first sight, marriage, tragedy and revenge plot, but the script takes a slightly offbeat route.

To start with, Bharath is shown as a software engineer, young and happy and in love with a girl in Ooty, Meera Jasmine. Facing opposition from her family, the lovers have no option but to elope and marry.

The evil shadow of a police officer who has developed a desire for Meera Jasmine lurks over them. Desire becomes obsession and tragedy follows close behind.

Meera Jasmine’s role isn’t challenging: she walks through it with ease.

The Bharath-Meera romance is a low point in the movie: it never seems to work. It is not endearing, except in one song.

Technically, the movie deserves praise for Mathi’s camera and Madan Gunadeva’s editing. The movie does seem a bit lengthy-around 3 hours.

Meera Jasmine is lucky that her recent film Gorintaku is doing well despite the bad reviews.

According to trade pundits, the film is going to be one of the big hits this year. And just as she got news of her film doing well, she has announced another new release.

Director Srinivasa Reddy, who earlier made a film with Meera Jasmine and Srikanth as the lead pair, is going to repeat the same duo for his new film Aa Aaa Ee Eee .

The three worked earlier in Yamagola Malli Modalaindi, which is considered a big hit in the director’s career. Boddam Ashok Yadav is the producer of the new flick.

The director who mostly banks on comedies, said that this new film too has the elements of comedy. Srikanth said that he is happy to work again with Srinivas Reddy

Meera Jasmine and her Malayalm movie career

Meera made her debut in the Malayalam film Soothradharan in 2001 directed by Lohithadas opposite Dileep.  Though the film flopped, she received offers from other languages. She has starred in a dozen Malayalam films in her six-year career. Her second film was directed by ace director Kamal, alongside Navya Nair, opposite Dileep. Her role as a Jewish girl was appreciated by Malayalam cine goers. Her third movie was a romantic comedy along side Prithviraj, Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya, and Bhavana under directorKamal. Her performance was appreciated and the movie was success at the box office. among the five main characters, one who scored the most was again Meera.

She got real attention in Malayalam cinema with the movie Kasthoorimann directed by her mentor Lohithadas. She was able to enact both comedy and sentimental scenes with equal fervor. She recived her first film fare award for her performance in Kasthoorimann. The film was also a success in box office running for 100 days. The same year, she acted in T V Chandran's much acclaimed Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam. She played a 15-year-old Muslim girl who was forced to marry an older man. She not only recived state award, but also National Award for Best actress and many other awards beating many strong contenders like Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen. Then came another soul-stirring performance as Raziya in Perumazhakkalam alongside Kavya Madhavan. In the movie 'Achuvinte Amma'(2005), she has enacted the young, adorable character Achu, with extraordinary ease that she seemed to live the character, instead of acting. She paired with Malayalam superstars-Mohanlal in 'Rasathantram' (2006) and recently with Mammootty in 'Ore Kadal' (2007). She won her second state award for Ore Kadal
