The School of Journalism and Visual Communication conducts a one-year Diploma course in Journalism and Communication with emphasis on visual media. The duration of the course is 10 months with one-month internship in major newspapers and a one-month project on an assigned topic. The School provides Internet, DTP and photo editing facilities.

Admission Procedure

The application form and prospectus can be had from the Director, School of Journalism and Visual Communication, Press Club, Kottayam - 686 001 on payment of Rs. 100/- directly or Rs. 130/- by money order (Rs. 30.00 postal charges). The application form duly filled in by the candidates should be sent to the Director at the above address. The cost of application form and prospectus is non-refundable. Application should be supported by proof of age and educational qualifications.

Age And Qualification

Addmission to Postgraduate diploma in Journalism and Visual Communication is open to any graduate of a recognised university with an aggregate of 45 percent marks and has not completed the age of 27 years at the time of admission. Thirty five students will be admitted every year.  Admission to the course shall be made on the basis of an aptitude test and interview. Ten percent of the total seats are reserved as management quota for the children of Kottayam Press Club members who qualify the aptitude test and interview. A minimum of 80 percentage of attendance in classes is mandatory to become eligible to appear for the final examination.

    Total: Rs 10,000/-

The balance amount of Rs. 12500/- shall be payable in three equal installments of Rs. 5000+ 5000+2500 each before 5th Nov. 2006, 5th February 2007 and 5th April 2007. The Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Expenses relating to stationery, travelling, assignments, study tours etc. will have to be met by the students.
