Malayalam film 'Ore Kadal' translating to "The Sea Within"  will be released in Mumbai, Delhi and Calcutta, next month.

This comes after its successful participation in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2007.

Shyamaprasad's 'Ore Kadal' was the opening movie for the Indian Panorama's feature film segment in the festival.

Bangalore and Chennai has already seen the release of Shyamaprasad's 'Ore Kadal' among Southern Indian metros .

"We got a decent response for the film," the Shyamaprasad said.

'Ore Kadal' is based on a Bengali fiction written by Sunil Gangopadhyay and was produced by Vindhayan

The story of 'Ore Kadal' is set against the social changes brought about by rapid globalisation.
It revolves around a simple middle-class homemaker (Meera Jasmine) and free-spirited economist (Mammootty).

Shyamaprasad says "It is necessary to promote the film before it is released in the metros," and is spending about Rs. 5 Lakhs in advertisement and each print.

Shyamaprasad  belives even though the parallel cinema after sub-titling may look a good option,  the real world is harsh.
He says there are logistic problems associated with such releases and has to wait and watch.

Tier-II and tier-III cities outside the home state are not of the this film makers interest since the audiences there may not live up to the response.
There is very less demand for alternate films in such cities, he says

Renowned Malayalam cinematographer N Alagappan feels that working in parallel cinema is far more challenging as compared to exhibiting skills in commercial flicks.

"Parallel cinema experiments in every aspect - camera, movement, camera angles, composition, lancing and exposures," Alagappan, who's cinematography was appreciated in Malayalam movie "Ore Kadal" screened in the Indian Panorama section of IFFI 2007, told PTI.

But this does not in anyway restrain the veteran cinematographer from enjoying commercial cinema.

"My priority is parallel cinema. You can enjoy it more vividly. I feel that parallel cinema is more pure," the cinematographer, who has several state and national awards to his credit, said.

As a cinematographer, Alagappan minces no words in appreciating Bollywood blockbusters like `Black' and `Saawaariya' which according to him had excellent cinematography and camerawork.

In terms of cinematography, Alagappan considers Indian cinema better than Hollywood.

"In Hollywood, all the films are technically advanced but most of the films follow similar kind of lighting and they are not much experiment oriented," he observed.

The field of cinematography is getting dominated with `digital inputs' because in every aspect people want either gimmicks or different kind of visuals. "So even for ordinary cinema we have to apply graphics and use digital analyser to change the image which you shoot," Alagappan explained.

He, however, admits that every cinematographer has to be receptive to present audience taste.
